111d Subcommittee on Federal Clean Power Plan 2015-2016

Next Meeting:
March 10, 2016 -- Cancelled

Last Meeting:
January 14, 2016

  • The 111d Subcommitte will not meet March 10. On Feb. 9, the U.S. Supreme Court granted a stay of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Clean Power Plan until the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit rules on the CPP's legality. Subcommittee Chairman Senator Keane and Vice-Chairman Representative Keith Regier agreed that the subcommittee's work should be on-hold until a decision is made by the courts.

  • The Environmental Quality Council (EQC) and the Energy and Telecommunications Interim Committee (ETIC) formed a subcommittee for the 2015-2016 interim in an effort to oversee the state's development of rules to comply with the federal Clean Power Plan, also referred to as the 111(d) rule.

  • On August 3 the Environmental Protection Agency released the final Clean Power Plan rule. It is now the responsibility of the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) to develop Montana’s plan for implementing the rule. View the federal prepublication version of the rule HERE.
