2013-2014 Education and Local Government Interim Committee

At its September meeting, the committee approved two bill drafts for introduction in the 2015 Legislature: LC 406 regarding incident management teams, and LC 448 revising public records laws. The committee also adopted a resolution opposing the preschool accreditation standards being considered by the Board of Public Education.

HJR 2 Electronic Records Management

Legislative Council has assigned the study associated with House Joint Resolution 2 to the Education and Local Government Interim Committee (ELG). HJR 2 requests an interim study to investigate electronic records management by state and local government.

As part of the ELG work plan, the committee sanctioned a Work Group to contribute to this investigation; more info on HJR 2 and the Work Group can be found here.

Shared Policy Goals

The Education and Local Government Interim Committee formed a Subcommittee on Shared Policy Goals for Education to review, and possibly revise, previous shared policy agreements. Information on the subcommittee can be found here.
