The Law and Justice Interim Committee will meet on March 19-20 in Billings. The meeting begins at 8:30 a.m. on March 19 at the Board of Oil and Gas Conservation hearing room at 2535 St. Johns Avenue.

During this morning session, several county attorneys will share their perspectives and legislative priorities with the committee members. As part of its SJ 25 study of solitary confinement, the members will hear about other states' efforts to reduce or eliminate the use of solitary confinement for offenders in state custody. At the conclusion of the Monday morning session, the committee will recess for tours of the Ted Lechner Youth Services Center, which is operated by Yellowstone County, and the Montana Women's Prison.

On Tuesday, March 20, the members will begin the day at 7:15 a.m. by attending the Yellowstone County Veterans' Treatment Court at the Yellowstone County Courthouse. Later, they will tour the Passages Prerelease Center operated by Alternatives, Inc., and the Yellowstone County Detention Center. After the final tour on Tuesday, the committee will reconvene at the Board of Oil and Gas Conservation to take public comment and conduct a work session.
