Environmental Quality Council 2007-08The draft climate change report, the findings and recommendations, and the included discussion draft legislation are works in progress. At the July meeting, the EQC discussed the report and draft legislation and agreed to put that information out for public comment. At the September 8-9 meeting, the EQC will review the documents and the comments, debate the issues, request changes, and finalize its work. Please send comments by 5 p.m., August 22. Comments may be submitted by email to snowakowski@mt.gov. Please put “climate change” in the subject line. Press Release about draft report The Environmental Quality Council (EQC) is a state legislative committee created by the 1971 Montana Environmental Policy Act. The EQC has 17 members: 6 senators; 6 representatives; 4 public members; and 1 nonvoting member who represents the Governor. The statutory duties of the Council are described in 75-1-324, MCA, of MEPA and in other sections of the Montana Code Annotated.
