House Bill 298, passed by the 1997 Legislature and signed by the Governor, extends to 2001 the termination date of the Health Care Advisory Council. Two Senators and two Representatives, appointed by the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House, respectively, join on the Council six members appointed by the Governor.
The Council studies and reviews problems in the health care arena and investigates ways to reduce costs in services and health care delivery systems, while promoting access and affordability.
